Sharing the Good News

One woman... said that if her husband caught her with a radio or MP3 player, he would kill her, but by using the SD card it would appear that she was simply using her phone.
Evangelical Christians in Central Asia are a very small minority experiencing faith restrictions in a Muslim region.   In this context, there is a need to find creative ways to spread the Gospel.

One way is through Christian radio.  SGA, in partnership with TWR, helps fund the purchase and distribution of small, high-quality radios pre-loaded with Gospel programmes.  The radios are also able to receive AM and FM signals. The Radio Distribution Project endeavours to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During the first four months of this year, 1500 radios,  MP3 players, and 2000 SD cards have been distributed throughout Central Asia.

One of the reasons the team distributes SD cards is so that listeners can listen to the programmes discreetly. One woman wanted an SD card for her smartphone. She said that if her husband caught her with a radio or MP3 player, he would kill her, but by using the SD card it would appear that she was simply using her phone. Many listeners are persecuted for their faith by unbelieving family members. These SD cards provide a way for them to safely listen to the Gospel.

In another instance, a member of the radio distribution team stood on one side of a waterway, which served as a border between two nations, while a listener stood on the other side. The team member threw the radio across the water and the listener caught it!

SGA has recently funded another 500 radio/SD cards. We praise God that in a region where sharing God’s love is difficult and dangerous, Christian radio programmes can quietly enter homes and change lives.
