Thank you for not forgetting our children

In the October 2006 issue of Breakthrough we shared with you something of the work amongst the children in Saran, Kazakstan by Franz and Olga Thiessen. Here is a recent report from Olga of what God is continuing to do amongst the children.

“To all who love our Lord and support the ministry in the children’s home Preobrasheniye in the city of Saran.

Praise the Lord; He gave us another year to live: one more year of mercy and blessings. What a happiness to know that we are children of our Heavenly Father and can experience His love and care. God put in action hundreds of people here to provide the sixty children in Saran with all they need and much more. He motivates them to sacrifice their hearts for the orphans. He motivates owners of shops and different firms to give something for the children’s home. The Lord is great!

Dear brothers and sisters we thank you in SGA very much for your participation. You have opened your hearts for our children. I can’t count everybody and everything that you have given to our children, but God has seen each heart. Everything you have done for our children you have done for the Lord. I know He will reward you and bless you. Thanks to your diligence we have managed to complete the construction of the new building of the children’s home. We have seen God’s blessings in it as we didn’t have any resources at the beginning of the construction. We only had faith and hope in God and in His will. And now looking back we can say: Praise the Lord!

Today we have a big, comfortable and lovely building. We have a big hall where we can come together - we also have a large bright dining room where all the children can eat at once and don’t have to queue. Every day we have had enough to eat.

Isn’t that a blessing to know that people pray for us and our children at different ends of the world? When we heard on the phone or read in letters: “We pray for you” it gave us strength and motivated us especially in moments when we were discouraged.

We have not only experienced nice days but also sleepless nights, worries and difficulties. The children grow up and the world tries to attract them. Sometimes much wisdom is needed, but we don’t have it. However, when we know there are brothers and sisters who pray for us and support us, it becomes warm in our hearts and we feel that God helps us in our helplessness and gives us wisdom.

By the end of this year four children have been adopted. This is also a kind of blessing. We are happy for those children who can live in a family. I would like to thank those who support our children and those who finance the education of our children – students. We see positive results. The children appreciate it and they change into better ways. God works in their hearts.

In recent times only a few new children have come to our children’s home. The reason is not that there are less orphans but that our children’s home is a Christian institution and that doesn’t suit everybody. Please pray about this; may God be merciful and give us the possibility to take more children, so that as many as possible can get to know Jesus’ love.

From all my heart I would like to wish you God´s blessings, joy and devotion to the ministry for our Redeemer and Lord Jesus Christ.”
