SGA LEADERSHIP SUPPORT

Noemi and Daniel

Noemi and Daniel Komrska.

SGA has been supporting Daniel and Noemi Komrska in their ministry in the Czech Republic for many years. In a recent report from them Noemi writes,

“Thank you for your love and care towards us. If my memory is correct, we have been in contact for thirty years. I remember the first visit of SGA to Bratislava, when our daughter Noemi was born and I shared how it was good for my husband Daniel to be spending that year at a Bible seminary in Switzerland. That time helped his theological knowledge and self understanding and he grew spiritually. Later we learned that you have been helping so many pastors to do the same at other Bible schools.”

For years Noemi and Daniel did not know anything about SGA or who they were; she didn’t even know the surnames of workers, which was best, if the police should ask. However, they could feel the care, love and practical help. “It was so good in a time of fear to have someone with whom we could talk openly and be sure of the prayers of many”, Noemi said. “I always had hope when I was waiting for Daniel to come from various hard situations,  where he might have been arrested. We knew SGA would care and pray. It was so good to know we were not alone.”

In 1979 they went to Ceske Budejovice to their first pastorate. Daniel was preaching over thirty times a month. In 1988 they moved to the district of Zizkov in Prague. During the time of joy and revolution in 1989 they were under great stress. Three of the five pastors in the capital became ill with burnout. There were only a few people in the country at that time who were able to speak English or German. Both Daniel and Noemi could, so many people came and stayed and wanted to talk. They decided to keep the contacts they had before the revolution. One old lady helped them to focus. After some visitors had preached in their church she said to Daniel, “Pastor keep your pulpit, we want to listen to you”.

They were able to start some new projects at that time. Daniel did some work in a large church where the members were a little slow to take responsibility and he encouraged them to do practical work. “This was so good later,” explains Noemi, “When Daniel had surgery twice on his spine and became semi-invalid. We also started a Day Centre for children with various handicaps (mostly autistic). This work still goes on today and helps children, their families, helpers and the Church too.”

In 1994 the Home Nadeje (Hope House) was opened in Vysoke Myto. This was started by Noemi’s father, Stanya Cerny and others. In 1995  Noemi and Daniel came to Nadeje to work and today there are eighty old people and some handicapped younger ones in the home.

“I am so thankful to the Lord, that we could start the work here together. God could see not only Daniel’s pain and father’s heart problems, but also some signs that the work of the Gospel could go on with the help of SGA. The meetings we held were visited by the people from the home and also some others from the town started to come also,” said Noemi. “After three years father died and went Home - on and after his funeral we could see new things starting. Even in our weaknesses the Lord helped us to wait on Him in everything and he used what we had learnt before - it was His work not ours and He did new things here.”

In July 2007 the church in Vysoke Myto became self-supporting. For four years thay have had two meetings every Sunday - one in Nadeje House (about thirty people)  and one in the rented building of another church after their meeting (about seventy people). Daniel is able to preach four or five times a week both in the home and sometimes in the church, where there is now a new pastor.

Their prayer is to grow deep in the faith because they have many young converts. The dream of Noemi’s father became their own. They pray for a new church building for the work as they believe it would help to build responsibility for all and give a home to more people for mission work.

“My mother Noemi, is living in Nadeje House now. It was not easy to move her here from the home where our family lived for so long, but she has here brothers and sisters from her family and it is so nice to see their love, faith and having a nice time together. She is rejoicing over her great grandchildren,” said Noemi. “Mum is rejoicing also with the Church. She loves them all as she is great in showing love to people!”
