A Faithful Prayer Warrior

Over eighty years ago a baby girl called Stasia was born into a farming family in a remote village in the centre of Poland. She was just like other children and liked playing, but as soon as she was able, she also started helping her parents with the work on their little farm to enable them to make ends meet.

with the Lord

Stasia’s father was a born-again believer and from early childhood she heard about Jesus Christ, both from her parents and during the services held in their home.

When she was thirteen years old the second world war broke out and regular battles took place not far from their village. Many people lost their lives, but Stasia and her family miraculously survived. During the war she committed her life to Jesus and soon after the war ended she was baptized in a little pond behind their barn. Stasia knew deep in her heart that she wanted to live for Christ whatever the circumstances.

She married, but unfortunately could not have any children of her own, so after some prayerful consideration they decided to adopt a baby boy whom they called Tadeusz. Much love was poured into the child and it was the great wish of his new parents that Tadeusz would follow the Lord one day too. Today Stasia is 82 years old. Her husband died twenty years ago. Tadeusz has three grown up children – two daughters (Renata and Gosia) and a son (Marek) – but he has never fully committed his life to Jesus, although he and his family attend the meetings that are still being held in the same house.

Daniel Kryston, who is helped under SGA’s Leadership Support ministry, remembers that since he first met Stasia in 1987, she has been praying fervently for the salvation of the whole family. She knew that only Jesus could fully satisfy their lives.

Grandson Marek who is studying at
the Bible Seminary in Warsaw

What a joy it was when a few years ago Marek, her grandson, accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. He is now a very committed young Christian, who shares the Gospel with those around him. At present Marek is at a Bible Seminary because he wants to serve the Lord even better. For the past year his sister Gosia has gone to study also. Stasia knows that her prayers are being answered and she is so happy and grateful to the Lord.

“I believe that it is due to the faithful prayers of our grandparents and parents that new generations of Christians are being called out of this world and seek to live and serve the Lord Jesus,” Daniel explained. “I am such a person myself and I know that I owe a lot, both to my parents and even to my grandparents who were the first generation of believers in my family. Today in Poland we need young committed Christians who will take the Gospel to lost people, as much as we need faithful prayer warriors, like Stasia.” Daniel continues, “I thank God for her and for other people like her. We, the younger generation of Christians, owe so much to the older generation of believers. May God bless them richly!”

Stasia had to wait many years to see her grandchildren come to the Lord. But now they faithfully serve God, bringing the Good News of salvation in Christ to other people in the country of Poland.
