Passing On The Mantle In Skopje
After many years the Good News Baptist
Church in Skopje, Macedonia, has recently
seen answers to their prayers, with Marko
Grozdanov being appointed the full-time
pastor.
Previously Ivan Grozdanov, Marko’s
father, had pastored the church for over
twenty seven years in a part-time capacity,
and his father was the pastor before that.
The work is challenging, with many difficulties,
both spiritually and materially. Macedonia
is going through difficult economic and
democratic reforms, and people are struggling
both economically and spiritually. Yet,
the church is excited by this new ministry,
as it opens up ways of ministering to a
new generation of believers who are more
free to explore the truths of Christianity.

Around forty-five percent of those who
attend are below the age of thirty, which
is particularly exciting, and over half
the visitors started attending the church
in the last five years.
The church is also a very important mission
point for the entire country, as it leads
the way in educating lay leaders from many
other churches. It is the biggest publisher
of evangelical literature in Macedonia,
and is well located to offer easy access
to many visitors and students from other
parts of the country.
“Please keep us in your
prayers as we seek to serve our Lord to
the best of our abilities,” asks
Marko. “Pray that we can
humbly devote time to each person, and that
we can grow the vision of our church to
new heights.”
