We are pleased to welcome John and Dorothy Birnie to the ministry of SGA. John has taken up the position of Field Representative, teaching and ministering in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
His home-end responsibilities will include promoting SGA in the churches in the Republic of Ireland and, where possible, in Northern Ireland.
John comes to us with a wide experience in Christian ministry. After several years teaching Religious Education in a Belfast Secondary School, he engaged in an evangelistic and church planting ministry in Sion Mills, Co Tyrone, with the Irish Baptist Home Mission.
There followed some years of pastoral ministry in Lisnagleer Baptist Church, Co Tyrone, before he joined the staff of the Irish Baptist College to teach Pastoral Studies, where he remained for seventeen years.
He is married to Dorothy and they have five children, and five grandchildren.
