We Are In A New Home
In our April 2006 edition of Breakthrough
we shared the tragedy that struck the orphanage
in Chorbog, Tajikistan.
We are delighted to say that in the autumn
of 2006 the dedication of the new orphanage
in the suburbs of Dushanbe, Tajikistan’s
capital city, took place. The workers, but
most of all the children, were so happy
about their new home. SGA is pleased that
their gifts have been able to help the children
of Chorbog enjoy a new place to live.
It was January 2006, when a terrible fire
destroyed the orphanage in Chorbog. The
surviving children spent seven months in
temporary facilities in a hospital. The
conditions there were not the best, but
at least they gave the children a chance
to live on. Thanks to the spontaneous support
of many churches and helpers, our partners
Bibel Mission, were able to send several
containers with desperately needed humanitarian
aid for the children.

For years the church of Dushanbe has been
involved in caring for the orphans. Today,
eight nurses, a housekeeper, a teacher,
a laundress and a driver from the church
are involved in daily care of the children.
They express their thanks for the help
and support of many people from all over
the world, so that they could be given a
new home. There was a shell of a building
standing in the suburb of Dushanbe, that
was started in the Soviet times. This unfinished
building was completed and the interior
work was finished.
