“As we concentrate on the work ahead
of us, we give thanks to God for the blessings
we have experienced,.” said Istvan
as he looked back over the work in Budaors.
“Many people have come to our outreaches
and we were able to form many new relationships.
We rejoiced in conversions and baptisms.
We have also started church planting in
Szazhalombatta, which is a big step forward.”
Istvan is currently supported through SGA’s
Leadership Support ministry and rejoices
in what God has been doing through the Church.
Last summer they held an English outreach
camp in the town of Torokbalint, following
much preparation. Almost forty people registered.
They were able to build new relationships
with many local people and since then have
started a Bible study group in English.
At the beginning of August the church held
training sessions on how to share personal
testimonies. Following this, church members
had an opportunity to talk to people they
met on the street of Budaors. The first
day went well, but they could not finish
the programme due to the continuous rain
that followed. They plan to continue with
outreach another time.
During the summer they also visited Szazhalombatta
numerous times in order to get to know the
city and to pray for people as they did
prayer walks. Istvan sees God’s mighty
hand at work, as more and more people are
coming to him with a heart for this city
and wanting to help in church planting.
They met a retired couple there and they
have already committed their lives to Christ.
The church waits with great anticipation
to see how the Holy Spirit will lead them
in the future.
“Ever since our church was founded
we have been constantly moving.” said
Istvan. “Since we do not have our
own building, we always have to rent a place
to hold any meeting or event. This means
a lot of extra organizational work. This
summer we moved from the school in which
we had been meeting to an office building,
which is a much better place in every respect.
Of course, it is also much more expensive
to rent. We would like to find a long-term
solution so that the background for our
work would be secured.”
The church in Budaors is praying that thirty
new people would come to church and that
a youth group would be started. They also
pray for more leaders to be trained and
called into service, so that the church’s
training and discipleship programmes will
be strengthened.
