Why Teach Nationals?
- SGA teaches in ten Mission Schools.
- The Schools are in Poland, Austria,
Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria,
Moldova and Kazakstan.
- Over 450 students are preparing
for ministry.
- Courses vary in length from
2 to 4 years.
- In the past ten years 100’s
of new churches have been planted by former
students.
- The need is still great.
History
During the 1970’s SGA began to teach
and equip national believers to work among
their own people. This was by specific request
from East European Church Leaders.
Aim
Today our aim states that we seek to serve
the Church in Central and Eastern Europe
and Central Asia by assisting it to become
fully equipped to fulfil the great commission
of Jesus Christ.
The Teaching Programme
The curriculum taught is agreed by the Church
leaders in each country. It varies from
School to School, thus meeting local need.
Where possible Nationals are used in the
teaching programme.
The Focus of the Teaching Programme
The main focus of all teaching programmes
is the study of God’s Word, with the
emphasis on church planting and evangelism.
The Impact of the Teaching Programme
Only eternity will reveal the full impact
of the vision the Church in Eastern Europe
had to train nationals in this way through
their lay training programmes. It is a thrill
however, to hear something of God’s
power at work through His children.
For example:
- Roman graduated from the school in Moldova
4 years ago and has already seen 2 new
Churches established.
- Tomasz in Poland, has not only planted
a church in the south, but is also ministering
to a large number of drug addicts.
- Timotei from Romania, has seen the Lord
bless in the formation of 3 new churches,
in villages where no evangelical witness
ever existed before.
- Maria, described by the teachers as
one of the best students to attend the
Moldovan Mission School, continues her
fruitful ministry among the children and
young people of her gypsy village.
- Vesselin, who is still a student at
the Mission School in Bulgaria, has seen
well over 200 converts, several churches
planted and a very effective home evangelism
programme established.
- Ivan has studied in one of the schools
in Serbia and today is pastoring a new
village fellowship near to his home, with
around 20 people attending.
