Great Opportunities For Ministry
“The Leadership Support of
SGA is a model example of supporting national
churches in their God-given responsibility.
Without their help we would have to miss
great opportunities for ministry.”
– Dr Jan Henzel (Levice, Slovakia)
The concept of a Leadership Support Ministry
was introduced by SGA after the fall of
Communism in Central and Eastern Europe.
Leaders In-country were faced with the tremendous
challenge of new possibilities to reach
out with the Gospel, but with meagre resources
their efforts were greatly inhibited.
Through this system key leaders are supported
while they train others and motivate them
to reach out with the Gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ.
Another level of this scheme is the support
of students in some of our Mission Schools,
to enable them to engage in church planting
in tandem with their studies.
So far we have supported hundreds of workers
financially and many of them are now in
self-supporting church situations. We currently
fund over seventy individuals through Leadership
Support.
AN OPPORTUNITY TAKEN
One such a man is Vasile Paul who trained
in the ‘School of the Prophets’
during the time of Communism in Romania.
Following that time of study the Lord called
him to work in Targu Mures, a very barren
area in the centre of the country. When
he began his ministry there in 1992 there
were only two pastors and six churches in
the region.
Fifteen years on, owing to the faithful
preaching of the Gospel in Mures county,
the Lord has saved many souls.
There have been more than four hundred
baptisms and thirty newly-planted churches,
with nine pastors caring for them. Of these
thirty churches, fifteen are the result
of the outreach from the Targu Mures church.
Vasile attributes some of this advance in
church planting to students who have studied
at the Mission School run jointly by SGA
and his church.
This is just one instance of many which
we could relate, showing the value of investing
in leaders who are being used by God to
motivate others to proclaim the Gospel to
their own people.
Our goal is to see all the churches become
self-supporting and operating independently
of foreign finance but this is still some
way from fulfilment.
Don’t miss GREAT Opportunities!
- Without your help they may have to
miss great opportunities for the Gospel.
- You or your Church can help the believers
in Eastern Europe grasp the opportunities
today by your support of a national worker.
- With your partnership in prayer and
practical support, new ground can be claimed
for the Gospel.
- Will you help us to help them help themselves?
Support levels vary from £35 - £220
per month depending on the country and on
individual circumstances.
You or your church can support
this ministry in various ways:
- By a single gift
- By supporting an individual worker for
up to two years
- By partnering with others to support
someone in ministry
If you wish to know more about
funding a national worker through Leadership
Support please make contact with the SGA
office.
