Children's Ministry
Please help us as we seek to use the new
opportunities the Lord is giving us to help
children.
REMEMBER - TODAY’S CHILDREN
ARE TOMORROW’S LEADERS
Today church leaders in Central and Eastern
Europe are burdened to care for children
and young people who are sadly neglected
at home. For many, no interest is shown
in their development and no one cares what
they do on the streets all day, when they
should be at school.
Because of this, we in SGA have a vision
to expand and develop our existing ministry
to under-privileged children.
What have we done in the past?
For many years Slavic Gospel Association
has been helping to meet the need of orphans,
through orphanages which where linked with
local evangelical churches. We have put
substantial funds towards this ministry,
enabling local believers to make the lives
of many children more comfortable. As a
result, children have listened to the Gospel
and many have been saved.
What are we doing now?
Along with helping to support orphanages,
SGA is supporting a married couple in Moldova,
under the Orphans Re-born project, as they
seek to make contact with a state-run orphanage.
They are trying to bring a Christian influence
with their regular visits, offers of help
and the establishing of long term links
between the local church and the orphanage.
This has proved to be a blessing and a channel
through which children are introduced to
the Gospel.
SGA is also supporting house parents in
the Grace Shelter in Odessa, Ukraine and
the Lord has blessed this work, in the salvation
of many of the children. They are now worshipping
in the local church and some are even involved
in the church’s outreach evangelism
into outlying villages.
Even though this children’s ministry
has been blessed over many years, we want
to broaden the work for children of the
future.
What will we do in the Future?
SGA plans to continue what is already being
done, but adding an additional aspect -
that of helping with a Day Care Centre in
Odessa. Many parents don’t care whether
their children go to school or not.
This new ministry involves:
- The children being taken to school
- Helping them after school with homework
in a central venue
- Providing them with a good meal
- Caring for their medical needs
- Presenting the Gospel to them through
Bible stories etc.
- Returning them to their parents at night
Church families will each care for an allotted
number of children. Through this contact
they hope to introduce them and their families
to the church.
HELP US MAKE IT HAPPEN
SGA wants to help these needy children,
so that through the love and care shown
and the time expended upon them, young people
will be reached for the Lord and given a
new direction and purpose in their lives.
